After a seven-year hiatus from English-language albums, MIKA returns with ‘Hyperlove,’ a vibrant fusion of theatricality and melody, exploring the tension between the digital world and human emotion.
A Return to English-Language Music
MIKA’s last English-language album, ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook,’ was released in 2019. Since then, he has explored various musical avenues, including his 2023 French-language album ‘Que ta tête fleurisse toujours.’ Now, with ‘Hyperlove,’ MIKA returns to his English roots, offering fans a collection that is both fresh and familiar.
Crafting ‘Hyperlove’
The creation of ‘Hyperlove’ was a journey spanning multiple continents and collaborations. MIKA worked closely with Nick Littlemore of Empire of the Sun, with additional production by Peter Mayes of PNAU. The album was recorded using analog and vintage equipment, lending it a warm, authentic sound. MIKA describes the album as an exploration of the tension between the digital world and human emotions, aiming to capture the euphoria that helps make sense of the world around us.
Singles Leading the Way
The album’s lead single, ‘Modern Times,’ released in October 2025, set the stage with its high-energy pop sound. Following this, ‘Immortal Love’ was unveiled in December 2025. This track holds a special place in MIKA’s heart, as it was inspired by his 16-year-old golden retriever, Melachi. In a heartfelt Instagram post, MIKA shared, ’16 years by my side. It was about time she had her own song.’
Tracklist and Collaborations
‘Hyperlove’ comprises 15 tracks, each showcasing MIKA’s signature blend of theatricality and melody. The album features collaborations with notable artists, including Renaud Rebillaud, Matthieu Jomphe (Billboard), and Amy Wadge, known for co-writing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud.’ Adding a distinctive cinematic flair, the legendary filmmaker John Waters provides narration, bringing his unmistakable wit and presence to the album’s world.
Upcoming Tour
To support ‘Hyperlove,’ MIKA has announced the ‘Spinning Out Tour,’ set to begin in February 2026. The tour will cover major European cities, including London and Manchester, before heading to North America. Fans can expect a live experience that mirrors the album’s energy and emotional depth. With ‘Hyperlove,’ MIKA continues his lifelong mission to craft pop music that is as bold and heartfelt as it is timeless, celebrating emotion, identity, and imagination in their most vivid forms.
