Green Day has unveiled ‘I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.’, a new track featured on the upcoming ‘Nimrods’ movie soundtrack, set for release on July 31, 2026. The song is a two-minute blast of tight, old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll bluster. The soundtrack will accompany the band’s forthcoming film, ‘Nimrods’, scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on August 14.
Soundtrack Details and Tracklist
The ‘Nimrods’ soundtrack comprises 30 tracks, including 22 career-spanning Green Day songs and four previously unreleased live recordings from their performance at the Palladium in Los Angeles. In addition to ‘I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.’, the album features contributions from The Paradox, Ultra Q, and actress Mckenna Grace. Notably, it includes four tracks by Analog Dogs, the fictional band central to the film’s narrative. The soundtrack will be available in multiple formats, including CD, cassette, digital platforms, and several vinyl variants. A limited edition ‘Fred’s Hair’ green vinyl is exclusively available through Green Day’s official website.
About the ‘Nimrods’ Film
‘Nimrods’ follows three friends—played by Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust—who embark on a cross-country road trip under the mistaken belief that their band, Analog Dogs, has secured an opening slot for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. The film draws inspiration from Green Day’s early years spent touring in a van before their 1994 breakthrough with the album ‘Dookie’. The cast also includes Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, and Bobby Lee. The film is set for a limited release in UK cinemas on August 11, with U.S. screenings beginning August 14.
Recent Activities and Releases
Earlier this year, Green Day performed at the Super Bowl opening ceremony at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8. Their set included a medley of classic songs from their back catalog. The band’s most recent album, ‘Saviors’, was released in January 2024 and received positive reviews, with NME describing it as their best work since ‘American Idiot’.
Fans can now listen to ‘I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.’ and watch its accompanying video, which features footage from ‘Nimrods’, streaming on YouTube.
